What's on Tap this Week
October 19, 2009
This is going to be a busy week for earnings. Here's a preview of what to expect.
Monday is the 22nd anniversary of the 1987 crash which was also a Monday. Ben Bernanke will be speaking at 11 to offer his on the financial crisis and economic outlook. We're also going to get earnings reports from Apple (AAPL), Eaton (ETN) and Gannett (GCI).
On Tuesday, we're going to get reports on wholesale prices and housing starts. I expect that housing starts will rise and wholesale prices will show a decline. Also, DuPont (DD) and Coach (COH) will report earnings.
On Wednesday, Boeing (BA), Morgan Stanley (MS), Altria (MO), Wells Fargo (WFC), KeyCorp (KEY) and U.S. Bancorp (USB) are due to report. The Federal Reserve will also release its Beige Book.
Then on Thursday, American Express (AXP), UPS (UPS) and Capital One (COF) report earnings. Also, Microsoft (MSFT) is scheduled to release its new Windows 7 operating system.
Finally on Friday, we'll get a report on existing-home sales.
