American Financial Group, Inc. provides property and casualty insurance, and annuity and supplemental insurance products in the United States. The company offers property and transportation insurance, which includes physical damage and liability coverage for buses, trucks and recreational vehicles, inland and ocean marine, agricultural-related products, and other property coverages; specialty casualty insurance, including primarily excess and surplus, general liability, executive liability, umbrella and excess liability, customized programs for small to mid-sized businesses, and workers’ compensation; and specialty financial insurance products comprising risk management insurance programs for lending and leasing institutions, surety and fidelity products, and trade credit insurance. It also provides traditional fixed and indexed annuities, and various supplemental insurance products, such as Medicare supplement, cancer, and accidental injury insurance. The company sells its property and casualty insurance products through independent property and casualty insurance agents, and brokers, as well as employee agents; fixed rate annuities directly through writing agents; and non-fixed rate annuities in banks through independent agents and brokers, as well as through direct relationships with financial institutions.
