Company Profile
ASM International N.V., together with its subsidiaries, engages in the research, development, manufacture, marketing, and servicing of equipment and materials that are primarily used to produce semiconductor devices. The company operates in two segments, Front-end and Back-end. The Front-end segment manufactures and sells equipment used in wafer processing, encompassing the fabrication steps in which silicon wafers are layered with semiconductor devices. Its products include Advance 400, a vertical furnace batch processing platform, which is used in various manufacturing steps ranging from the production of silicon wafers to the final anneal in interconnect; Eagle, a single-wafer processing product platform for PECVD applications; Eagle XP, a platform for 300mm single wafer processing; Epsilon, a platform for single wafer epitaxy; and Polygon, a single wafer atomic layer deposition platform. This segment serves customers in southeast Asia and Europe. The Back-end segment manufactures and sells equipment and materials that are used in the assembly and packaging, encompassing the processes in which silicon wafers are separated into individual circuits and subsequently assembled, packaged, and tested. It offers die and flip chip bonding, and die sorting products for semiconductors and light emitting diode markets; wire bonding products; encapsulation products; post encapsulation products; singulation equipment; automated systems; and electronics assembly hardware and software. This segment serves customers in the United States and Japan. The company sells its products primarily to manufacturers of semiconductor devices, manufacturers of silicon wafers, and assembly companies. It has a strategic research and development partnership with the Interuniversity MicroElectronics Center. ASM International N.V., formerly known as Advanced Semiconductor Materials International N.V., was founded in 1968 and is headquartered in Almere, the Netherlands.
