AXIS Capital Holdings Limited, through its subsidiaries, provides various insurance and reinsurance products to insureds and reinsureds worldwide. The company operates in two segments, Insurance and Reinsurance. The Insurance segment offers specialty insurance products, including property that covers commercial buildings, residential premises, construction projects, and onshore energy installations; marine covering offshore energy, cargo, liability, recreational marine, fine art, specie, hull, and war; aviation; terrorism; credit and political risk; and liability. It also provides insurance products for professional lines that cover directors and officers liability, errors and omissions liability, employment practices liability, fiduciary liability, crime, professional indemnity, and other financial insurance; and accidental death, travel insurance, and specialty health products for employer and affinity groups, financial institutions, schools, and colleges. This segment offers its products through wholesale and retail brokers, managing general agents, and underwriters. The Reinsurance segment provides non-life reinsurance to insurance companies. Its product lines include catastrophe; property reinsurance covering underlying personal lines and commercial property exposures; professional liability; credit and bond covering reinsurance of trade credit insurance products; and motor coverage to insurers for motor liability and property damage losses. This segment also offers liability coverage, such as general liability, auto liability, and workers compensation; other reinsurance products, including aviation, marine, personal accident, and crop reinsurance; and engineering coverage for construction risks and risks associated with erection, testing, and commissioning of machinery and plants during the construction stage, as well as operational failures and business interruption. The company was founded in 2001 and is headquartered in Pembroke, Bermuda.
