Casella Waste Systems, Inc., together with its subsidiaries, provides resource management services in the areas of solid waste collection, transfer, disposal, recycling, and organics services to residential, commercial, municipal, and industrial customers in the northeastern United States. It offers a range of non-hazardous solid waste services, including collections, transfer stations, material recovery facilities, and disposal facilities. The company also markets recyclable metals, aluminum, plastics, and paper and corrugated cardboard that are processed at its facilities; and recyclables purchased from third parties. In addition, it generates and sells electricity under a contract at a waste-to-energy facility. As of May 31, 2012, the company owned and/or operated 32 solid waste collection operations, 31 transfer stations, 17 recycling facilities, 9 Subtitle D landfills, 4 landfill gas-to-energy facilities, 1 landfill permitted to accept construction and demolition materials, and 1 waste-to-energy facility.
