DaVita Inc. provides kidney dialysis services for patients suffering from chronic kidney failure, or end stage renal disease (ESRD) in the United States. The company primarily operates kidney dialysis centers, and provides related lab services primarily in dialysis centers and in contracted hospitals. Its services include outpatient dialysis, hospital inpatient hemodialysis, and ESRD laboratory services. The company also operates or provides management and administrative services to outpatient dialysis centers that are either minority owned by the company or wholly owned by third parties in the U.S and outside the U.S. In addition, it offers DaVita Rx, a pharmacy that provides oral medications to patients with ESRD; infusion therapy services; disease management services; vascular access services; ESRD clinical research programs; and physician services. As of December 31, 2011, the company provided dialysis and administrative services through a network of 1,809 outpatient dialysis centers in 43 states and the District of Columbia in the United States, serving approximately 142,000 patients; and 11 outpatient dialysis centers outside the United States, as well as provided acute inpatient dialysis services in approximately 900 hospitals and related laboratory services. DaVita Inc. was founded in 1994 and is headquartered in Denver, Colorado.
