First American Financial Corporation, through its subsidiaries, provides financial services in the United States and internationally. The company operates in two segments, Title Insurance and Services, and Specialty Insurance. The Title Insurance and Services segment provides title insurance policies, and related products and services on residential and commercial property; and closing and escrow services. It also accommodates tax-deferred exchanges of real estate; maintains, manages, and provides access to title plant records and images; and offers banking, trust, and investment advisory services. This segment offers its products through a network of direct operations and agents in 49 states and in the District of Columbia; and directly or through joint ventures in Canada, the United Kingdom, and internationally. The Specialty Insurance segment provides property and casualty insurance that offers coverage to residential homeowners and renters for liability losses and typical hazards, such as fire, theft, vandalism, and other types of property damage in 43 states. It also provides home warranty products in 39 states and the District of Columbia; and auto insurance in California. This segment markets its property and casualty insurance products through direct distribution channels, as well as through a network of independent brokers. The company is based in Santa Ana, California.
