It serves customers seeking fresh water acquisition, temporary water transmission and storage, transportation, treatment or disposal of fresh water, and complex water flows, such as flowback and produced brine water in connection with shale oil and gas hydraulic fracturing drilling operations. In addition, the company has a joint venture with Energy Transfer Partners, L.P. to develop water pipeline infrastructure and treatment solutions for oil and gas producers in the Marcellus Shale area in Pennsylvania, and in the Haynesville Shale areas in Louisiana and Texas; and holds a 7% equity interest in Underground Solutions, Inc., which provides water infrastructure solutions and pipelines. It owns and operates a fleet of approximately 600 trucks for water transportation and approximately 1,100 frac tanks. Heckmann Corporation was founded in 2007 and is headquartered in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania.
