ORIX Corporation, an integrated financial services company, provides various products and services to corporate and retail customers in Japan and internationally. It operates in six segments: Corporate Financial Services, Maintenance Leasing, Real Estate, Investment Banking, Retail, and Overseas Business. The Corporate Financial Services segment engages in lending, leasing, and commission business for the sale of financial products; and environment-related businesses. The Maintenance Leasing segment involves in automobile and rental operations. This segment’s automobile operations comprise automobile leasing, rental, and car sharing; and rental operations include lease and rental of precision measuring and information technology related equipment. The Real Estate segment operations consist of development and rental of commercial real estate and office buildings; development and sale of condominiums; operation of hotel, golf course, and training facility; senior housing development and management; REIT asset management; real estate investment and advisory services; and real estate finance. The Investment Banking segment engages in loan servicing, principal investment, merger and acquisition advisory, venture capital, and securities brokerage businesses. The Retail segment involves in life insurance operations; and banking and the card loan businesses. The Overseas Business segment operations comprise leasing, lending, investment in bonds, investment banking, real estate-related operations, and ship- and aircraft-related operations in the United States, Asia, Oceania, and Europe. The company was formerly known as Orient Leasing Co., Ltd. and changed its name to ORIX Corporation in 1989 to reflect its diversification into financial services other than leasing. ORIX Corporation was founded in 1964 and is based in Tokyo, Japan.
