Company Profile
Materion Corporation, through its subsidiaries, produces and sells engineered materials for use in various electrical, electronic, thermal, and structural applications primarily in the United States, Europe, and Asia. It offers precious, non-precious, and specialty metal products, including vapor deposition targets, frame lid assemblies, clad and precious metal preforms, high temperature braze materials, wires, chemicals, optics, performance coatings, microelectronic packages, and specialty inorganic materials. The company also provides various strip products, such as thin gauge precision strips, and thin diameter rods and wires for use as connectors, contacts, switches, relays, and shielding; and bulk products comprising copper and nickel-based alloys in plate, rod, bar, tube, and other customized forms that are used in oil and gas drilling components, bearings, bushings, welding rods, plastic mold tooling, and undersea telecommunications housing equipment. In addition, it produces beryllium metal, beryllium composites, and beryllia ceramics in rod, sheet, foil, and various customized forms for acoustics and optical scanning applications; and clad inlay and overlay metals, precious and base metal electroplated systems, electron beam welded systems, contour profiled systems, and solder-coated metal systems that provide thermal, electrical, or mechanical properties from a surface area or particular section of the material. The company serves the consumer electronics, defense and science, industrial components and commercial aerospace, energy, automotive electronics, telecommunications infrastructure, medical, and appliance industries. It distributes its products through a combination of company-owned facilities, and independent distributors and agents. The company was formerly known as Brush Engineered Materials Inc. and changed its name to Materion Corporation in March 2011. Materion Corporation was founded in 1931 and is headquartered in Mayfield Heights, Ohio.
