NetEase, Inc., through its subsidiaries, operates an interactive online community in the People’s Republic of China. The company operates in three segments: Online Game Services; Advertising Services; and E-mail, E-commerce and Others. It offers massively multi-player online role-playing games and mobile games; and distributes its point cards to gamers across China, as well as through wholesalers, Internet cafés, software stores, supermarkets, bookstores, newspaper stands, and convenience stores primarily in Guangzhou Province, Shanghai, and Beijing. The company’s NetEase Websites provide Internet users with Chinese language online services comprising content channels that offer news, information, and online entertainment; community and communication services, such as photo albums, instant messaging, online personal advertisements, open courses, mobile news applications, online video, and community forums; and various search functions, dictionary, and cloud note-taking applications. It also offers online advertising services that include banner advertising, channel sponsorships, direct e-mail, interactive media-rich sites, sponsored special events, games, contests, and other activities; e-mail services to individual and corporate users; and wireless value-added services. In addition, the company provides e-commerce services through various online platforms, such as Caipiao, an online service related to third-party lottery products; Wangyibao, an online payment platform; EaseRead, an e-reading app; Huatian, a matchmaking service platform; Cloud Music, an online music social network; and Yinxiangpai, which offers personalized photo-based product, as well as sells game-related accessories to users. The company was formerly known as NetEase.com, Inc. and changed its name to NetEase, Inc. in March 2012. NetEase, Inc. was founded in 1997 and is based in Beijing, the People’s Republic of China.
