Platinum Underwriters Holdings, Ltd., through its subsidiaries, provides property and marine, casualty, and finite risk reinsurance coverage products worldwide. It operates in three segments: Property and Marine, Casualty, and Finite Risk. The Property and Marine segment includes property catastrophe excess-of-loss reinsurance, property per-risk excess-of-loss reinsurance, property proportional reinsurance, and property facultative reinsurance contracts; and marine reinsurance treaties, such as excess-of-loss, as well as proportional treaties. This segment provides reinsurance coverage for damage to property and crops; and for marine, offshore energy, and aerospace insurance programs, including hull damage, protection and indemnity, cargo damage, satellite damage, aviation hull, aviation liability, and general marine liability. The Casualty segment offers reinsurance contracts that cover general and product liability, professional liability, accident and health, umbrella liability, workers’ compensation, casualty clash, automobile liability, surety, trade credit, and political risk. The Finite Risk segment provides structured reinsurance contracts with ceding companies and offers various categories of finite risk contracts, such as quota share, multi-year excess-of-loss, and whole account aggregate stop loss. The company sells and markets its products through reinsurance brokers. Platinum Underwriters Holdings, Ltd. was founded in 2002 and is based in Pembroke, Bermuda.
