Company Profile
FreightCar America, Inc., through its subsidiaries, designs, manufactures, and sells railroad freight cars primarily for railroads, shippers, and financial institutions in North America. It designs and builds aluminum-bodied and steel-bodied railcars, such as coal cars, bulk commodity cars, flat cars, mill gondola cars, intermodal cars, coil steel cars, and motor vehicle carriers. The company also refurbishes and rebuilds railcars; and sells forged, cast, and fabricated parts for various railcars. In addition, it provides general railcar repair and maintenance, inspections, and railcar fleet management services for various types of freight railcars, as well as leases freight cars. The company was founded in 1901 and is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois.
