Everest Re Group, Ltd., together with its subsidiaries, underwrites reinsurance and insurance in the United States (U.S.), Bermuda, and international markets. It operates in four segments: U.S. Reinsurance, Insurance, International, and Bermuda. The U.S. Reinsurance segment writes property and casualty reinsurance, including marine, aviation, surety, and accident and health insurance on both a treaty and facultative basis, through reinsurance brokers, as well as directly with ceding companies. The Insurance segment offers property and casualty insurance, such as medical stop loss insurance directly and through general agents, brokers, and surplus lines brokers within the United States and Canada. The International segment underwrites non-U.S. property and casualty reinsurance in Canada, Singapore, Brazil, and Miami and New Jersey. The Bermuda segment provides reinsurance and insurance to worldwide property and casualty markets; and reinsurance to life insurers through brokers and directly with ceding companies, as well as to the United Kingdom and European markets. The company was founded in 1973 and is headquartered in Hamilton, Bermuda.
