The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company engages in manufacturing, marketing, and selling lawn and garden care products worldwide. The company operates through two segments, Global Consumer and Scotts LawnService. The Global Consumer segment offers granular and combination lawn fertilizer and control products, grass seed, spreaders, garden and indoor plant foods, plant care products, potting, garden and lawn soils, mulches and other growing media products, wild bird food, and pesticide and rodenticide products. This segment sells its products primarily under the Scotts, Turf Builder, Miracle-Gro, Liquifeed, Osmocote, Ortho, Roundup, Home Defense, Morning Song, Weedol, Pathclear, EverGreen, Levington, KB, Fertiligène, Celaflor, Nexa Lotte, Substral, ASEF, and Substral. The Scotts LawnService segment provides residential and commercial lawn care, tree and shrub care, and pest control services through periodic applications of fertilizer and control products. As of September 30, 2011, this segment had 83 company-operated locations, as well as 88 locations operated by independent franchisees. The company sells its products primarily to home centers, mass merchandisers, warehouse clubs, hardware chains, independent hardware stores, nurseries, garden centers, and food and drug stores, through a direct sales force, as well as through a network of brokers and distributors. The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company was founded in 1868 and is headquartered in Marysville, Ohio.
