Its products and services enable customers to deliver wireline and wireless voice, data, and video services to business and residential customers. The company operates through three segments: Broadband, Transport, and Services. The Broadband segment provides access products that enable service providers to deliver bundled voice, video, and high-speed Internet/data services over copper or fiber networks; managed access transport products, which deliver wireless and business services primarily outside of the United States; and data products, including packet-switched products that enable wireline and wireless carriers to deliver business services and next-generation wireless services. The Transport segment enables service providers to transport services and manage bandwidth; and wireline and wireless providers to support wireless and business services for enterprises, as well as provides triple-play voice, video, and data services. The Services segment delivers deployment, training, support, and professional services to support various phases of the network, such as planning, building, and operating. The company sells its products and services through its direct sales organization, value-added resellers, distributors, and public and private network providers. Its customers include communication services providers, including local exchange carriers; national post, telephone, and telegraph administrators; wireless service providers; multiple system operators; competitive service providers; distributors; original equipment manufacturers; system integrators; and government agencies. The company was founded in 1974 and is headquartered in Naperville, Illinois.
