This segment serves animal hospitals, animal practices, universities, and other government organizations. VCA Antech, Inc. also offers digital radiography and ultrasound imaging equipment, related computer hardware, software, and ancillary services to the veterinary market; online and printed communications, professional education, and marketing solutions to the veterinary community; and an e-commerce platform for independent animal hospitals. In addition, the company provides technical support and product updates; professional services related to its equipment and software, including installations, on-site training, education services, and extended warranty programs; and mobile imaging services, as well as licenses software. As of December 31, 2011, it operated 541 animal hospitals and 53 veterinary diagnostic laboratories.
