Stock of the Week Archive

Flowserve (FLS) 05.07.08

I currently recommend Flowserve Corporation (FLS), this week’s stock of the week, to my Emerging Growth subscribers. The company, along with its subsidiaries, manufactures and sells pumps, valves, mechanical seals and other various precision-engineered flow control equipment. Ever since its 2000 acquisition of Ingersoll-Dresser Pumps, Flowserve has become the world’s largest provider of pumps for the chemical, petroleum and power industries.

First Solar (FSLR) 04.29.08

In case you haven’t noticed by reading my Top Story, I’m very excited about “green” stocks right now. One of my most exciting “green” buys happens to be a solar stock I recommend to my Blue Chip Growth subscribers. Appearing as my number one stock for the third month in a row since I first purchased it in January of this year, First Solar (FSLR) is my choice for this week’s “Stock of the Week.” I can’t wait to tell you more about this excellent buy that’s good for both our portfolios and the planet.

McDonald's (MCD) 04.23.08

The downturn in consumer spending has has taken its toll on companies like Linens 'n Things and Sharper Image, but there are companies out there that continue to bring customers in the door. In Friday's Blue Chip Growth Weekly Update, I rated McDonald's (MCD) as my top buy for the week. The stock is up over 40% for Blue Chip Growth subscribers, and is selling more burgers now than it was a year ago thanks to its ability to sell in the international marketplace.

America Movil (AMX) 04.15.08

Mexico’s America Movil (AMX) is one of the hottest telecom stocks out there right now. At the moment I’m recommending it to both my Emerging Growth and Blue Chip Growth subscribers. Want to know a little secret? In both of these newsletters American Movil is the highest gainer! That’s right, it’s beating out the likes of big-wig Apple (AAPL), competitor Rogers Communications (RCI) and even last week’s “Stock of the Week” Mosaic (MOS) in the total profits it’s earned my subscribers so far. At the moment that I’m writing this post, America Movil is up over 430% in both newsletter portfolios. I couldn’t be more thrilled!

Mosaic (MOS) 04.08.08

Even though first quarter earnings season has just begun, several of my Buy List stocks have already seen great success. In fact, one stock has already reported a ten fold increase! My Blue Chip Growth subscribers probably already know which stock I’m referring to, as it’s brought them over a 163% increase in their portfolios since I first recommended it in October of 2007. Benefiting from strong global sales, the weak U.S. dollar and the fact that it belongs to the very hot agriculture sector, Mosaic (MOS) has earned its rightful place as this week’s stock of the week.

Guess (GES) 03.31.08

I'm sure you agree when I say that I'm pretty tired of all the bad news out there. When J.C. Penney (JCP), one of the country's largest retailers, cut its first-quarter earnings guidance, its shares tumbled 12%. Consumer spending has obviously dried up, and the economic indicators now say that we've unofficially entered a recession. But while stocks like J.C. Penney may get hit, our Emerging Growth retail stocks, like Guess (GES), are thriving.

Apple (AAPL) 03.25.08

My Blue Chip Growth subscribers and I have taken a big bite out of Apple (AAPL)–to the tune of 354% profits since December 2004! Apple is benefiting from traditionally strong computer sales as well as the explosion in digital music, which it dominates with its iPod.

In case you don't know what the iPod fuss is about, just ask a teenager. (By the way, when your teenager starts driving, they'd prefer to have a car that works with their iPod.) Apple also recently exploded onto the cellular scene by introducing its iPhone, a product that was anticipated long before it reached store shelves.

Google (GOOG) 03.17.08

This week’s Stock of the Week may sound very familiar. Google (GOOG) operates the most popular and powerful search engine on the Internet. Consider these mind-boggling facts: Google targets search results on more than 8 billion web pages, and its website attracts an audience of more than 80 million people! Its phenomenal success is due to its proprietary algorithm, which is used to rank search results and is more closely guarded than the gold in Fort Knox. Google generates revenue through ads that are targeted by keywords. In addition, it also sells ads across a network of more than 200,000 affiliated websites.
