The Industry Standard recently took a "where-are-they-now" look at some of the most hyped Internet stocks from the 1990s. Does anyone remember TheGlobe.com? It was in November 1998 that this stock's IPO caused near-euphoria on Wall Street.
Consider some of these numbers: The offer price for shares of the TheGlobe.com was $9. On the first day of trading, the stock opened at $87, rose to $97 and closed at $63.50. At the time, that was the biggest one-day IPO jump in Wall Street history. But this company should have quit when it was ahead. Two years later, the shares were going for 53 cents each, and the stock was delisted.
Of course, lots of companies fail. That's one of the keys to our capitalist system. But, few do it as prominently as the TheGlobe.com did. What's interesting about this company is that their idea of an online community wasn't so dumb after all. You could say that they were the forerunners of social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace. Or as one of the founders stated, "Simply put, we were 10 years too early." Timing really is everything.
Spotting 4,100% Growth
The issue of timing is one that my team and I have spent a lot time studying. One of the goals of my Quantum Growth trading service is to pick companies while they're smack in the middle of their growth cycle sweet spot. This is a very tricky task. If you get there too late, you'll miss most of the profits. If you get in too early, you could be sitting on another stock like TheGlobe.com.
The key to what we do here at Quantum Growth to ensure that winners are always picked at the perfect time is to run them through a huge series of tests. It's a grueling competition. Imagine "Survivor," but for stocks. Every week, we break down thousands of possible investments. For every 300 stocks we look at, we reject 299. I refuse to take any chances, and our results speak for themselves. Since 1998, our Quantum Growth system has delivered gains of 1,500%! That's 30 times over the performance of the rest of the market!
You can see now why I'm so obsessive about setting a high bar for our Quantum Growth stocks.
With a drive for perfection like that it should come as no surprise that we've had another terrific spring here at Quantum Growth. Since the market turned in March, several of our favorite stocks are up over 30%. Not bad for a few weeks' work! I want to share some of our recent success with you, and explain how my subscribers will keep creaming the market in the future.
In Monday's issue of Quantum Growth, we added a stock that had first-quarter earnings growth of–hold on to something–4,100%! When I first saw that, I honestly didn't believe it. We double-checked the numbers, and yep, we found yet another winner!
Relatively unknown for many American traders, the company is based in Bermuda. (I'll go anywhere to find a great value). First, let's look at the numbers. The company recently reported first-quarter earnings of $2.10 a share compared to last year's profits of just five cents a share. To say that this surprised Wall Street is an understatement. The company nearly doubled what the analysts were expecting. So what, exactly, do they do?
The company is a leading soy and oilseed processor. In addition to processing soybeans, the company also processes canola seed, sunflower seed, wheat and corn. The company's fertilizer operations–from the mining of phosphate-based raw materials to the selling of blended fertilizers–are primarily in Brazil. If you're a follower of world economics, you already know that Brazil has one of the world's fastest-growing economies and many of the best-performing companies on the globe do most of their business there.
The Quantum Advantage
To find out the name of this stock and the rest of our Quantum Growth Buy List winners, you can "test-drive" a three-month subscription for $1,395 (or get one year for $5,000). Now I know that some of you may feel a bit uneasy about that price tag, but keep in mind that Quantum Growth profits are among the highest of any trading service out there. The price reflects that. It is simply the finest and most dependable source of information on the market, with no other service performance coming close to our rigorous stock research. Sincerely,

Louis Navellier
