Do you remember when McDonald's started opening stores in Europe? I do. It was a complete novelty, but over time, that novelty became big business.

If the global recession does not result in a reduction in global trade, look for MCD to continue flexing its muscle overseas. Nothing says America like the golden arches. Our beacon may not be shining as brightly, but we are still the leader in the world, and many across the globe want to be like us. The craving for cheap fast food is a relatively new phenomenon. There is still plenty of opportunity in places like Eastern Europe and Asia, especially China, for MCD to expand. That expansion will provide plenty of fuel for future growth and ample reason to own the stock.
